How the JPY price is calculated

Silver trades internationally in US dollars per troy ounce. MarketsGrid converts that price into Japanese yen at the live USD/JPY interbank rate, cross-checked across two sources (the Daily reference rate (ECB) until it loads), so the JPY price moves with both the metal and the exchange rate. Local dealers quote their own prices, which include premiums, taxes and their own FX rate.

Historical JPY prices on the chart are converted day by day with the reference rate in force on each date, which makes long-run comparisons in JPY meaningful: a rising JPY price can reflect a stronger metal, a weaker Japanese Yen, or both.
