Charts and history use the European Central Bank's daily reference rates, published around 16:00 CET on business days. Neither is a tradable quote: banks and card providers add their own margins.
How to read the numbers
Pairs follow market convention: EUR/USD is the number of US dollars per euro; USD/JPY is the number of yen per dollar. Daily change compares consecutive reference dates. History runs from January 1999, when the euro was introduced.
