How the AUD price is calculated

Platinum trades internationally in US dollars per troy ounce. MarketsGrid converts that price into Australian dollars at the live USD/AUD interbank rate, cross-checked across two sources (the Daily reference rate (ECB) until it loads), so the AUD price moves with both the metal and the exchange rate. Local dealers quote their own prices, which include premiums, taxes and their own FX rate.

Historical AUD prices on the chart are converted day by day with the reference rate in force on each date, which makes long-run comparisons in AUD meaningful: a rising AUD price can reflect a stronger metal, a weaker Australian Dollar, or both.
